Born and raised in Sandakan, Kenji Chai is a graffiti artist based in Kuala Lumpur. His inspiration comes from comics, cartoons and storybooks; using cute and vibrant characters to create layered scenes of mischief!

Kenji designed two kompangs for the Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival to help raise funds for the Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF). The funds raised will help the Malaysian independent non-profit organization to further its efforts in conducting research in prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.

Kompang is a small hand-held rebana used by the Malay community. It is commonly used to announce the arrival of important guests, such as VIPs, as well as to celebrate Malay weddings.
