Time flies. It’s been a month since we were dancing, laughing and singing over the weekend at Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival 2016!
Held at The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) on 20 & 21 August 2016, #YSDAF is a Malaysian community project that brings local artistes together.
Just last month, we were graced with perfect weather, ultra fun performances, workshops and extremely great company. Just within two days, we hosted more than 300 different activities from morning to night, for people of all ages. The best part? We received more than 15,000 participants in total!
This post is dedicated to everyone who has made #YSDAF 2016 a most memorable one. To each and everyone who came for the festival, we want to say THANK YOU. It is because of your support that the arts in Malaysia will continue to flourish and inspire the community.
Here are 5 of our most favourite things about #YSDAF!
#1 Free Workshops
Imagine having over 60 free workshops to choose from. Catered to people of all ages, we had calligraphy, dance, theatre, music and more. From young children playing the gamelan, to adults learning the drums or getting into the swing and salsa, we were sure everyone had a lot of fun!
#2 Jam-packed performances
From dawn to dusk, there were no shortages of performances. It was at #YSDAF that the public could sample various art forms, from rock bands, to traditional dance, comedy, theatre, visual arts and more! We have an enormous variety of talented locals, and we were happy to be able to showcase them even for one weekend!
#3 Getting our hands dirty
Over at the Handyzone, there were free art and crafts for participants to take part in. It could be a sketch with KLSketchNation, learning about the letter press process with The Royal Press or having a go at water colour calligraphy with KLigraphy, there’s something for everyone. Our personal favourite? A young boy getting his tiny shirt printed with the help of our gracious hosts at Raksaska Print 🙂
#4 Picnic at the park
Really, it’s not everyday we get to lay a mat out on lush green grass, hang out with friends and busk under the evening sun. With live music wafting in the air, it is no doubt that everyone was all smiles.
# 5 The people!
If there’s anyone who knows how to have fun, we have to give it up to the people at #YSDAF!
You all have been awesome, and we hope to see you again. Till next time!
