“Through The Ages” by Wicked Music People in collaboration with The klpac Orchestra is a dynamic 20 minute performance that aims to explore and highlight different soundscapes through different eras, bridging the gap between music of our time and early music. The ensemble will be using a mix of modern and period instruments such as the rarely heard viola da gamba, and will be joined by award-winning mezzo soprano, YiLing Chaing.
About the Artiste / Group
Wicked Music People (WMP) seeks to provide a platform in Kuala Lumpur for the performance of early music (vocal and instrumental music of the late Renaissance and the Baroque). They use period instruments where possible, and are guided by modern sensibilities and a commitment to freedom of expression while remaining true to the music. They aim to spread our love for early music in Malaysia, making it truly accessible.
Since 2017, the group has performed at the Wicked Pancake Parlour and festivals such as OperaKUL and the George Town Festival. Their proudest moment to date is building their very own harpsichord. They are also the first baroque ensemble in this region to be invited to perform at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.
