A new work premiering at YSDAF 2023, When East Meets West offers a unique blend of sounds combining Chinese instruments with hip hop music, creating an immersive cultural experience. The audience can learn about traditional Chinese music while enjoying a modern twist.
The electronic beats and rhythms can be tailored to match the specific style of the Chinese instruments, resulting in a unique blend of traditional and modern music. In addition, the collaboration also will incorporate visual elements to enhance the overall experience and create a fully immersive performance.
About the Artiste / Group
The Eastward Groove Collective offers a modern, multicultural music experience by leaning towards sounds influenced from the East where Chinese music instruments are prominent and the idea of “groove” to paint a laid-back and relaxed vibe that fits well with chill hop and jazz. The group blends different genres and styles such as this new collaboration between a DJ and Ruan instrument to create a new and innovative sound.
