Spanning from 1937 to the present, this play follows Aya’s resilience as she raises seven children amid societal and personal struggles. Through her son Suresh’s monologues, a tapestry of nostalgia and introspection unfolds, exploring family, identity, and love.
This work premiered as part of The Emerging Artists Residency, a 3-month mentorship and development program designed to nurture fresh graduates and aspiring artists under The Actors Studio Seni Teater Rakyat and klpac Connect, with the support of klpac and Yayasan Sime Darby.
Performed in Tamil with English surtitles.
About the Artiste / Group
Sumatresh Production started in 2023 and they focus on stories to connect and relate with audience. They strongly believe that language should not be a boundary and they hope to break everyone’s comfort zone. They do theater and films with the main goal of telling stories.
