#FestivalHighlight. Nothing but Us by the Interior Architecture students of the Malaysian Institute of Arts (MIA) is a visual arts installation commissioned for YSDAF 2025.
Nothing but Us is a reminder that we are not alone.
A mirrored surface sparks a visitor’s curiosity. They are invited to place a simple round sticker. As more marks appear, the surface transforms into a silent, growing archive of connection.
A raised platform and viewing portal—a symbolic “beam of hope”—draw visitors deeper into the space, offering a moment of pause and introspection. Set by the lake, the installation invites reflection not just of the self, but of community—asking: in our nothingness, what do we share?
Nothing but Us invites curiosity, contemplation, and contribution. It is not just something to be seen, but something to be part of.
About the Artiste / Group
Shwu Ching and Han Ze are both currently pursuing a BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture and Design. Shwu Ching enjoys observing and recording moments from nature and everyday life, drawing inspiration from subtle interactions to shape meaningful spatial narratives.
