Automata

Automata: Simple Mechanical Toy Workshop

The word Automata comes from the Greek “Automatas,” referring to mechanical devices capable of movement. By the 20th century, artists in the UK began crafting small-scale mechanical figures with artistic and everyday elements, bringing this art form closer to the public.

In this workshop, The Ferryman Art Space will guide participants in creating their own automata using simplified techniques and paper-based materials—making it easy and fun for anyone to craft a unique moving figure of their own.
Session 1: 4 pm – 5 pm
Session 2: 6 pm – 7 pm
Session 3: 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm

All Day Activities: Screen Print workshop
It’s time to get your hands dirty!

Art BaiDuRen will be running silkscreen printing workshops for festival goers at YSDAF 2025 Urban Tour: PARC, Subang Jaya where you will not only be able to create special memories, but you will also be able to keep them!

Their team is transforming YSDAF’s key visual design into a silkscreen printing template. Participants will be guided through the process of screen printing and be able to print the festival visual onto their own cotton T-shirts, creating their very own limited-edition YSDAF souvenir!

Suitable for 7 years old above. Participants must bring their own light-coloured cotton T-shirts for the printing. T-shirts are not provided by the facilitators.
