The Handyzone
A dynamic 20-minute showcase that brings the rich sounds of Malay gamelan to life through rhythm, movement, and connection. Blending tradition with contemporary energy, the performance invites the audience to go beyond observation—encouraging them to participate and interact with the music-making process. Through guided moments of call-and-response, rhythm play, and storytelling, the audience becomes part of the experience, blurring the line between performer and spectator. This interactive approach celebrates gamelan as a living, evolving art form and invites all ages to feel its resonance not just through sound, but through shared presence.
About the Artiste / Group
Gangsapura is a contemporary Malay Gamelan group that was founded in 2016 in Kuala Lumpur by Teuku Umar Ilany and Nur Diyana Nadirah. Our mission is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of traditional Malay gamelan while blending it with modern influences.
This fusion allows us to create immersive, culturally rich experiences that resonate with diverse audiences. By combining the ancient rhythms of gamelan with contemporary elements, we aim to both educate and inspire. Our performances bring a fresh perspective to traditional music, making it accessible and exciting for modern audiences.
