Fire Ritual on Pulau Acoustic Showcase
Elmina
8.00 pm - 8.30 pm
Stage Two
Step into an intimate retelling of Fire Ritual on Pulau, where voice, sape, and stripped-down arrangements rekindle the spirit of the original ritual concert. In this acoustic showcase, Anak Borneo invites you into a raw, reflective space—where music becomes offering, memory becomes melody, and every note carries the echoes of vanishing forests and ancestral breath.
From the depths of Borneo’s fading rainforests to the fragile terrain of identity and healing, this is a journey inward—and homeward.
About the Artiste / Group
Evan Lee, better known as Anak Borneo, is an independent Malaysian
musician, composer, and performer whose art is deeply rooted in the
ancestral, ecological, and spiritual landscapes of Borneo. Formerly the lead
vocalist of Kitai Anak Borneo (KAB), he launched his solo project in 2017 to
give voice to stories of indigenous identity, vanishing traditions, and the
entanglement between modernity and nature.
Drawing from a diverse musical palette—ranging from traditional Bornean
instruments to progressive and post-rock influences—his work transcends
genres and becomes ritual. Each performance is an immersive offering: a
bridge between past and future, spirit and sound, memory and vision.
In 2025, Evan debuted his self-conceived concept concert 《Fire Ritual on
Pulau》, which weaves together the tracks from his two concept albums Pulau
and Fire Ritual. Held at DPAC, this full-length production marked a turning
point in his career—gathering collaborators across music, visual arts, and
design to present an urgent and poetic reflection on loss, identity, and spiritual
renewal.
