Teng-Teng: Kembali ke Akar by Sesi Tikar Mengkuang

KL East Mall

11.00 am - 5.30 pm

Main Stage (G1)

Barefoot, we return step by step to the quiet wisdom of the earth. Kembali ke Akar traces the form of Teng-teng, a childhood game remembered in movement, now reimagined in textures of husk, leaf, bark, and seed. This sensory path invites not just play, but presence. In each step lies a memory, a moment, a grounding. As feet wander, the body remembers: to move with care, to feel with wonder, to reconnect with what often goes unnoticed. A gentle call to return — to land, to self, to the world beneath our feet.

Festival goers are invited to interact with this installation which is displayed in a teng-teng (hopscotch) format barefoot.

About the Artiste / Group

Sesi Tikar Mengkuang (STM) is a wellness and arts platform rooted in nature, community, and cultural exploration. Founded by a movement educator and creative facilitator, STM offers thoughtfully curated experiences that blend slow living, embodied practices, and local crafts—all within the coastal charm of Cherating, Malaysia.

Our gatherings invite participants to reconnect with themselves and the land through activities like yoga, somatic awareness, journalling, traditional ceramics, beachside rituals, and shared meals. Whether through multi-day retreats or intimate workshops, STM celebrates a lifestyle of presence, reflection, and meaningful connection—offering a softer pace of being in a world that often moves too fast.

Each experience is an invitation to breathe, move, and simply be—surrounded by nature, culture, and community.

Achievements

1. Featured Performance & Workshop at Rainforest World Music Festival (2023)
Sesi Tikar Mengkuang was invited to present both performance and workshop sessions at one of Asia’s most iconic festivals—Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak. Blending traditional mat rituals with contemporary movement, STM captivated audiences and was featured on Astro Kini as a festival highlight.

2. Establishing a Wellness & Cultural Hub in Cherating, Pahang (2022–Present)
STM started off in Villa de Fedelia and into an independent coastal sanctuary for cultural wellness. Through weekly sessions, seasonal retreats, and international residencies, STM has become a home for embodied arts, slow living, and heritage-based healing experiences rooted in Malaysia’s coastal and indigenous traditions.

3. National Festival Circuit Recognition (2023–2024)
STM has been consistently invited to lead community-based programming at national festivals including TapauFest, YSD Arts Festival, Arts on the Move (Pasar Seni MRT), and Feathers of North Borneo. These appearances mark STM’s growing recognition as a grassroots leader in wellness, movement, and cultural engagement.
