Entry

  1. To enter, fill out the online form here, and submit it together with a digital copy of your work. Please retain your original physical artwork (if non-digital work) for the festival finale. Alternatively, you may submit the hardcopy of the 2D artwork via mail / by hand to:

  1. Deadline for all entries is 1st of June 2020 by 11.59pm Malaysian time.
  2. All shortlisted entries will be notified by the 15th of June 2020.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Open to 7 to 17 year olds residing in Malaysia.
  2. Open to new artworks in any 2D visual medium.
  3. The concept behind the artwork as well as the execution and development of the artwork itself must be the participant’s own.
  4. The following info must be clearly stated on the back of the artwork / in the submission.
    • Participant’s name
    • School
    • Age
    • Title of the artwork
    • Contact details
  5. There will be a total of 3 winners per category selected from the contest, according to the discretion of The Yayasan Sime Darby Festival 2020 (YSDAF 2020).
    • First Category: For Primary School Students
      Grand Prize – RM500
      2nd Prize – RM300
      3rd Prize – RM200
    • Second Category: For Secondary School Students
      Grand Prize – RM3,000
      2nd Prize – RM1,500
      3rd Prize – RM500
  6. Each Grand Prize winner will receive a pair of exclusive invites to #YSDAF Gala Night on the 15th of August 2020^.
  7. Each student may submit as many entries as they like, but a maximum of one prize will be awarded per person.
  8. Selected entries will have their artwork exhibited during the festival finale, in The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac).
  9. All individuals retain rights to their work. Entry to the competition allows the Yayasan Sime Darby Festival 2020 (YSDAF 2020) the right to print/exhibit the submitted work for publicity and marketing purposes, and to print/exhibit the work during the festival finale.
  10. Prize collection will be arranged once winners are selected. Winners will be contacted for arrangements.
  11. Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash or substituted by the winners.
  12. All winners must be available for publicity and marketing purposes prior to the Festival Finale event.
  13. Judging criteria include:
    • Interpretation and the clarity of the theme to the viewer
    • Creativity and originality of the depicted theme
    • Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the theme
    • Overall impression of the art
  14. Judges’ decisions are final and no appeals will be entertained.
  15. Staff of klpac, The Actors Studio, penangpac and Yayasan Sime Darby, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
