Tai Chun Wai is a theatre practitioner and street performer known by his stage name WaaiwaiiDrum. He often surprises passersby with his impromptu appearances, transforming everyday objects into musical instruments. With buckets, pans, pots, cookware, cymbals, biscuit tongs, a bongo, and more, he creates an enchanting symphony that resonates through the streets, bringing smiles from all who witness it.

“Recycled Rhythms” celebrates the magic of rhythms and the spirit of improvisation, spreading joy and inspiration to the public.

About the Artiste / Group

He has immersed himself in the arts through 24-Festive-Drum and is currently a full-time performer with Orang Orang Drum Theatre (Malaysia). He showcases his skills as a Djembe player and street drummer under his stage name, @WaaiwaiiDrum, while also actively engaging in arts education.

He has a particular fascination with the connection between theatre and movement and seeks to forge a multi-sensory experience. To further his knowledge in physical movement, he has trained in various practices such as Tai Chi, Capoeira, Butoh, Yoga, and contemporary dance.

Since the pandemic, his focus shifted to dance improvisation, which he has been exploring since.
