Mathew Ngau Jau, a Sape’ Master performer and maker, is from the Kengah Ngorek tribe in Sarawak. He is known as the Keeper of the Kenyah Ngorek songs.

Mathew is world renowned as one of the few professional Sape’ players in Borneo and is recognised as an authority on the instrument. In 2015, he was also acknowledged as Malaysia’s Living National Heritage.
